How is it that Monster.com just can’t get it right? Hundreds (hundreds) of millions in: developing the long touted candidate “Power Search” and other employer search/posting “tools” and not only is it not completely functional but has features that don’t work or have begun to unravel.

Monster spent hundreds of millions in purchasing Yahoo Hot Jobs to get them off of the street corner and no appreciable difference in candidate search results. Zero …. Nota’ (did they just delete the entire Hot Jobs resume database?

And then, well there’s the standard “Classic” candidate search that still has multiple issues that haven’t been fixed in the last two years and new issues that seemingly change like the New England weather.

With the economy and joblessness at one of it’s most challenging points in 80 years, respondents to job postings are (at least in the IT sector) hard to come by and at an all time low. Why? Is it because candidates are as disappointed with the changes as employers are?

Outside of the fact that Monster likely needs to move its software quality assurance team from Eastern Europe and actually test its products and enhancements, thankfully, there are options.

A new survey report from Dice shows that the IT job market is heating up, with many companies saying they plan to hire more in the second half of 2010 than in the first half. The increased demand could signal a return to salary increases and bonuses.
